He served in the United States Air Force from 1998 to 2002 as an I.C.B.M Nuclear missile electrician, and was stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas, Vandenburg AFB near Santa Maria California, and F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyoming,
Ethan's hobbies include classical guitar, martial arts, hiking, and of course, studying the Bible!
Classical guitar- Ethan has played the guitar since the age of 16, when he began to study blues and rock guitar, later focusing on classical style guitar under the direction of Kirk Higgins.  He still plays occasionally in church and continues to practice when he can find the time.

Martial Arts- Ethan has been a student of martial arts since age 12.  He studied Uechi-Ryu karate under the direction of Sensei George Krob in Prescott Valley, Arizona. He has operated dojo in Arizona and Wyoming. In the year 1999, Sensei Erway opened us his first Christian dojo in Cheyenne, Wyoming in a converted two car garage in his back yard. While the style of karate was Uechi-Ryu, he began using the term Kirisutokyoo-Ryu (Christian Way) to describe his teaching. He taught in Wyoming for about 3 years before moving back to Arizona, where he dropped the term Kirisutokyoo-Ryu and has since established the Arizona Christian Karate Academy.  He has been actively teaching Uechi-Ryu style karate in a Christian environment since 1999.
Ethan has also studied Kendo, Iaido, and a little Jeet Kune Do.
